Kentucky at Alabama

January 18th 2011 17:58
Well it feels good to be back working on games after a rough two days of being under the weather. Looking to get back to winning ways after a huge letdown on Sunday. Here is what Iike today.

The # 12th ranked Kentucky Wildcats will head to Tuscaloosa, AL to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in tonight’s SEC matchup.

Will Kentucky be able to pick up their first road conference win tonight or will Alabama pull off the upset and win this game straight up or even cover the spread in this game?

Kentucky Wildcats:

Kentucky (14-3, 2-1) enters tonight matchup off two outstanding showings their last two games. They put a beating on LSU their last time out winning by 38 and the game before that pounded Auburn by 24. Kentucky brings their high flying offense (80 PPG, 15th in the nation) on the road tonight to face an Alabama team that is ranked number 1 in the country in points per game allowed at home (48.2 PPG). Kentucky has 3 losses this season and they have come at the hands of teams that play solid defense and rank in the top 60 in defense efficiency. The Wildcats lost at Georgia, at UNC and against UCONN. If the Wildcats plan on winning this game they are going to have to find ways to score on Alabama’s defense which a lot of teams have not been able to do this year.

Alabama Crimson Tide:

Alabama (10-7, 2-1) enters tonight matchup looking to rebound from their first conference loss their last time out. The Tide lost in Arkansas by 5 as a 2 point underdog. Alabama knows the importance of this game this early in the season since this could be a preview of the SEC championship comes March. Alabama has played outstanding basketball on their home court this year going 9-0 and 4-1 ATS. The Tide are averaging 72.9 points per game at home this year and allowing just 48.2 points per game. This is going to be their first test at home as an underdog this season.

Line Movement:

The opening line for this game had Kentucky as a 5 point road favorite. This line has since dropped to Kentucky -4 at most Sportsbooks even with over 92% of the 1300 bets placed on Kentucky.

Final Thought:

I am one that preaches value in your plays. By taking Kentucky in this game we are getting value and by taking Alabama we have lost value in this play. Well I am going to take Alabama in this game. My numbers actually have Alabama winning this game outright so to still get them as an underdog I am very happy with that. I feel this is such a big game and I think Alabama will be ready for it. The Tide has played strong at home all season and Kentucky has had their problems on the road. Kentucky is going to go into a very hostile environment tonight and should be lucky if they can come out a winner. The Alabama fans will be into this game all night and could cause Kentucky to struggle from the line tonight since opposing teams are only shooting 60% from the free throw line in Alabama. Look for Alabama to play that full and half court press defense and make Kentucky work to get points in this one.

Recommend Play: Alabama 4
