PSU at Illinois

February 1st 2011 19:07
Well I do not know what to say. It has been a horrible four straight days with the free picks. Charlotte fought back last night and I really thought they had the cover in their hands and they let me down. Well I just have to keep plugging away and I will get back to winning ways soon. I am going to jump over to College Basketball today to get me back to winning ways. I do have a NBA Top Total Play up for sale in my package so make sure to check that out and jump on board with that play.

Free Play Today: PSU 8

Penn State (12-8, 5-4) enters this matchup tonight playing very good basketball as of late. Penn State is 4-2 SU the last six games while going 6-0 ATS in those games. Penn State has wins over Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State in those six games and lost to Purdue by one and Ohio State by three. The success that Penn State has had is due to the defense that they are playing. This team is allowing just 58.6 points per game in the last six games. The offense is only averaging 61.2 points per game but they are shooting 48.3 % in the last six games.

Penn State is just 3-3 ATS on the road this season but the Nittany Lions are 7-2 ATS in conference play on the year. Penn State is 5-0 ATS the last five games against teams above .500. Penn State is 5-0 ATS the last five games after scoring less then 75 points the previous game and is 5-0 ATS the last five games after allowing less then 75 points the previous game. Penn State is 3-1 the last five games on two days of rest. Penn State is 13-5 ATS the last 18 games as a road underdog.

Illinois (14-7, 4-4) enters tonight’s matchup struggling as of late. The Fighting Illini is just 1-4 SU the last five games while going 1-4 ATS in those games. Illinois is struggling due to the lack of offensive production that they have gotten the last five games. Illinois averages 73.6 points per game on the year but over the last five games they are averaging just 61.8 points per game. The defense is playing well allowing just 64 points per game over the last five games which are 1.2 points lower then their season average but you are going to have to score some points to win games.

Illinois is 7-4 ATS at home this season but are just 4-4 ATS in conference play this season. The Fighting Illini is just 1-4 ATS though their passed five games in Big Ten Conference play. Illinois is just 2-9 ATS the last 11 games against teams that have a loosing road record. Illinois is 2-3 ATS the last five games after scoring less than 75 points the previous game and just 1-4 ATS the last five games after allowing less then 75 points the previous game. Illinois is 1-4 ATS the last five games on three or more days rest.

This should be a very good game tonight. Illinois is out for revenge on this Penn State team from a loss in Happy Valley a few weeks ago. Penn State has had a lot of success against Illinois in the passed few years going 5-4 SU the last nine games against them and 8-1 ATS against them. Illinois has only won by more then eight points once in those four wins they have against Penn State the last nine games. I am not asking that Penn State win this game outright but I do feel they should keep this game within the eight points. Let’s make a play on Penn State 8 points tonight to get me off this loosing streak I am on.

Being an Illinois fan - I always hate to watch the games against Penn State. The games are so close most of the time and Illinois loves to play down to their competition. However, Illinois is always tough at home and that should make for a close call on the 8 points.

Another Illinois fan, but I do have to note that a lot of Penn State's success did come at home. Add to that the fact that I'm sure Bruce Weber has had quite a "talk" with the team after a disappointing effort at Indiana and I'm guessing the Illini will come out with a fire in front of the home crowd.
