Wis Milw at Valpo

January 21st 2011 17:44
Well let me start by saying I hope a few of you grabbed those plays I put up yesterday that I had leans on. Two of the three plays did hit and that would have been a profit for the night. Over on my paid plays I was 1-1 again with my top play La Monroe just not getting it done at home. I do have an NBA 3 pack on my tap today so make sure you jump on board with that we have: a nice total that is setting up perfect and two underdogs that should pull outright wins. I do have a free play in College today and here is what I like on it.

Wisconsin Milwaukee goes out on the road tonight in this Horizon league affair to take on Valparaiso. Valparaiso opened as a 10 point favorite by the sports books but this line has now dropped to -9. The total on this game opened at 137.5 and has dropped off to 137 and I am even seeing some 136.5 at a few outlets.

The Panthers of Wis.-Milwaukee have had their fair share of road struggles as of late. The Panthers 2-4 SU their last 6 road games is also 2-4 ATS The offense has just been horrible in those 6 road games scoring only 60.2 points per game, which is about almost 4 points less then their season road average. The defense has tried to keep them in those games by allowing just 68.3 points per game (2 points lower then season road average) but without the offense you can see they have not been successful. Now they must go on the road and face a very strong team in Valparaiso who shuts teams down at home on the defensive side of the ball.

Valparaiso comes into this matchup tonight playing very good basketball as of late. With back to back road wins over Wright State and Detroit and winning 8 of their last 9 this team is catching fire at the right time for conference play. A lot of the success that we have seen from this Valparaiso team this year at home comes from their stingy defense. Teams are shooting only 37.9% from the field against them at home while they are allowing just 57.6 points per game. The funny thing about Valparaiso is that they average almost 5 more points offensively on the road then what they do at home.

Valparaiso is a team that keeps their possessions down at home and they play great defense on their home floor. We have a Wis.-Milwaukee team that has played better defense on the road their last 6 games and their offense has fallen over those 6 road games. Look for this to be a lower scoring game, my personal numbers has this game capped at 131 total points. I say let’s play the under in this game. The line is already moving so we want to jump on this one to save as much value as possible.

I do believe that Valparaiso does win this game. Do I see them covering the line on this game? That is a very good question though. My numbers have this game set at being a 70-61 Valpo win.

That Horizon league is going to be interesting. I do have to say by going on the road this weekend and beating Detroit and Wright State that is big. They are just going to have to deal with Butler who pounded them by 17 in Butler a few weeks back and a very good Clevland State team that has a guard in Norris Cole that will be playing in the NBA next year. Watch that kid play he is solid. Should be a great conference tournament when it comes time.

Butler lost to Wright St. which surprises me and Cleveland State was doing ver good and I was believing in them until they got annihilated by Butler. Cleveland State is bouncing back and doing pretty well.

I think that Horizon league could be taken by Valpo, Butler, Wright State or Clev State. Those seem to be the big 4 in that conference. I am not too suprised that Butler lost that game to Wright State. They went on the road to face a team that is in the top four in their conference. Anytime you go on the road in conference it is a tough game especially as a road favorite and the defending runner up in College Basketball. You are going to get everyones best when you play them. Just like the Lakers everytime they step on the court teams always step up their game against them due to who they are. I hope you jumped in on this under this one is looking good with only 5 minutes lesft to play.
